“Neighborhood patrol.” That’s how Jay Leno introduced himself to some fans in Los Angeles who spotted him cruising the streets in a massive tank.
The former Tonight Show host is a legendary car collector, but seeing him behind the wheel of an actual military vehicle was a surprising sight for all who witnessed it.
As TMZ reported, Leno pulled over to chat with the fans, who complimented his “sick-a** tank.” When the funnyman explained that he was the local “neighborhood watch” and “just making sure the neighborhood’s safe,” they assured him that it would be as long as he was patrolling the area.

“That’s f**king Jay Leno in a tank” said the bystander shooting the video, which pretty much summed up the scene.
When asked about where the tank came from, Leno shared that it was a gift. And that it’s the “perfect” vehicle for L.A.
Oddly, it’s not the first time Leno has been spotted driving a tank through the streets of Los Angeles. In 2018, TMZ reported another sighting of Leno driving what appears to be a different tank. The outlet described the earlier vehicle as a 1949 Ferret Scout armored vehicle that had been used as a “fighting vehicle” until 1971.
Leno’s tank ride comes just days after he showed off his newest acquisition, a McLaren W1 Hypercar worth at least $2.1 million, on the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. The comedian’s impressive car collection, which is estimated to be worth more than $50 million, includes more than 180 vehicles and 160 motorcycles.
